My First Love

I found my first love
When my pen met paper
And for the first time,
What spilled out
Was not ink,
But my heart.

I found my first love
When I found that
Books were more than
Words on a page,
And for the first time,
I enjoyed getting lost
In a world unknown to me.

I turned to my first love
Through heartbreaks
And endless tears,
Through blissful happiness,
And perfect moments.
I turned to my first love
When I needed
Someone to talk to,
But no one to turn to.
I turned to my first love
When I needed
To immortalize just how
Perfectly happy I was at the time.

My first love
Was my love of words.
Words that transport me
To a different reality,
Words that touch me
And move me greatly,
Words that I pen down
To understand my own heart,
Words that stay with me
Forever.
